Hail, August 09, 2026, SPA -- The University of Hail, represented by its College of Engineering, won first place in the Undergraduate Paper Competition held as part of the ninth International European Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, held in Barcelona, Spain, from July 20 to 22.
A number of students from the university's Department of Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering received the award for their research paper on the cultural and institutional determinants of the application of Six Sigma methodology in Saudi Arabia and Germany.
The Undergraduate Paper Competition, sponsored by Siemens, is one of the awards held alongside the conference. It recognizes outstanding student research in industrial engineering and operations management, based on scientific criteria that include research quality, originality, methodology, practical value, and the ability to address issues and challenges in the industrial and operations sectors.
This international achievement reflects the university's students' excellence in scientific research and innovation, as well as the University of Hail's efforts to develop their research skills and empower them to compete in international scientific events, thereby strengthening the university's academic and research presence and standing.
