Riyadh, September 15, 2026, SPA -- The Ministry of National Guard and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in the presence of Minister of National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, today launched a specialized sub-track for biometric data within the Data Regulatory Sandbox during the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit. The initiative comes as part of cooperation between the two sides to support innovation in biometric data and advance relevant regulatory practices and frameworks.
The biometric data track is a specialized sub-track within the Data Regulatory Sandbox, targeting innovative products and services that process biometric data. Participating products and services will be tested within the sandbox’s main tracks according to the scope of each product or service and the relevant regulatory requirements. This will allow regulatory challenges associated with biometric data to be examined and appropriate practices for its governance to be assessed.
