Riyadh, September 18, 2026, SPA -- Saudi Arabia, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) hosted a side event on artificial intelligence (AI) policy tools as part of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh. The event aimed to support countries in designing and implementing AI policies in line with their national priorities and levels of digital readiness.
The OECD provided an overview of the platform for developing and assessing AI policies and how to use it. It also outlined the tools’ resources and guidance, which take countries’ economic and cultural contexts into account and support the implementation of the OECD AI Principles to promote innovation and protect human rights.
The event included hands-on working group sessions in which country representatives used the platform to identify their priorities, assess existing policies, identify gaps, review relevant experiences from other countries, and determine practical steps to develop AI policies that meet their countries’ needs.
