Riyadh, October 13, 2026, SPA -- A peregrine falcon captured in the Al-Dabdaba area, Hafar Al-Batin, sold for SAR106,000 on Monday, the third night of the National Center for Falcons Auction 2026, which drew a large crowd of falconry enthusiasts. The auction runs through November 30.
The falcon, a young peregrine (farkh shaheen), was caught by four falcon trappers. Bidding opened at SAR60,000 before reaching the final sale price of SAR106,000.
The auction accepts only young migratory peregrine falcons (farkh) caught in the wild within Saudi Arabia. It does not accept mature peregrine falcons (qarnas) or saker falcons, in a move aimed at supporting their sustainability and preserving their bloodlines.
The auction will continue receiving wild-caught falcons for two months. Auction sessions are broadcast on TV and social media, allowing falconers and enthusiasts to follow the bidding.
Throughout the capture season, the National Center for Falcons provides a range of services and benefits to falcon trappers. Its various regional teams receive falcon trappers, with the center covering their accommodation and transportation to the auction venue.
A falcon is then presented for fast-paced, live competitive bidding, broadcast on TV channels and the center’s social media accounts.
